Who will be world champion 2022? Updated odds for country ranked first in Qatar

Title contenders Argentina’s shocking early loss to great underdogs Saudi Arabia and Germany’s late loss to clinical Japan were among the first results to affect bookmakers’ chances of winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

England and the Netherlands both started with victories to encourage players who bet on them at relatively low odds, while Brazil were pre-tournament favourites, while defending champions France were thought to be close behind.

There are sure to be more surprises to keep players and odds makers in the dark as the action in Qatar continues.

Here’s a full look at the odds you can get for each team to win the finals on December 18th.

The World Cup odds of all teams

Argentina’s defeat ended their 36-game unbeaten streak in one of the most memorable upsets in World Cup history.

This has slightly increased the price for Lionel Scaloni’s side of becoming champions and it would be rude not to mention that Saudi Arabia’s chances have plummeted following their sensational opening performance.

Hosts Qatar were underdogs after a dismal first group stage game and showed little sign of qualifying after a 2-0 defeat by Ecuador, whose chances have diminished accordingly .

Price changes aren’t always a reaction to results: France are less likely to triumph than they were after the finals draw, unsurprising given their long list of injuries including Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema.

The absence of talisman Sadio Mane dampened the hopes of Senegal, who played respectably but were beaten 2-0 by the Netherlands in the first game.

Japan’s odds were halved after they put in an excellent performance to become the first side to bounce back from a deficit and beat Germany at the finals since 1994.

Who will be world champion? Favorites 2022

Brazil are FIFA’s top-ranked team and the bookmakers had the South American heavyweights as early favorites to clinch the title.

The Three Lions looked far more impressive than in previous months as they beat an Iranian side ranked at No. 20 in the world 6-2 early in their campaign, making them second favorites.

France, Argentina and Spain are also among the likeliest according to the odds – but expect the drama to mock many bets in the coming weeks.

FIFA World Cup winners

Of the 32 participating teams, seven have already hoisted the world title.

Unsurprisingly, all seven of these teams appear in the top 10 favorites to win this year’s edition, given the football tradition runs deep.
