The World Cup is the biggest competition in the world. Almost half of the world’s population watches it. This is where underdogs often thrive, while some big nations also dominate. Many historic games took place at the World Cup. Most recently, at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Spain outclassed Costa Rica, beating them by seven goals.

Up to six different goalscorers scored for Spain in their dominant win over the Central American side. 5. Portugal 7-0 North Korea (2010)

North Korea were in jeopardy the moment they entered Group G of the 2010 World Cup. Reigning Copa America champions Brazil and Portugal were in Group G alongside North Korea and Côte d’Ivoire. It was a tremendous win for Portugal as it was their biggest World Cup win ever.

North Korea, on the other hand, suffered its heaviest and most humiliating defeat. Also, North Korea finished bottom of the group with a goal difference of -11, largely due to Portugal’s seven-goal celebration.

4. England 6-1 Panama (2018)

The 2018 World Cup was a very exciting competition for the English fans because they expected a lot from their team. England managed to play consistently until Croatia eliminated them. England showed their offensive prowess against Panama in the group stage, where they went all out.

The Three Lions scored six goals against Panama, with Harry Kane scoring a hat-trick. John Stones scored twice and Lingard scored. Panama scored a consolation goal against England.

Argentina fans expected a lot from Lionel Messi and Argentina at the 2018 World Cup. After a bitter defeat in the 2014 World Cup final, many expected Argentina to make a comeback. Everything was going well until they faced France in the round of 16. Didier Deschamps’ French took the lead with Griezmann’s opener. 2. Germany 8-0 Saudi Arabia (2002)

A lot has changed for Saudi Arabia after beating Argentina 2-1. An iconic game that has gone down in history. At the time, however, Saudi Arabia was struggling immensely. It was only her third appearance at the World Cup. Germany beat them and scored eight goals against the Arabs in the group stage.

Saudi Arabia struggled from the start and played terribly under pressure. Klose and the German team were merciless. In that match, Klose scored a hat trick. Overall, Klose scored five goals at the same World Cup (2002). He remains the top scorer in FIFA World Cup history.

1. Germany 7-1 Brazil (2014)

One of the most iconic matches in FIFA World Cup history. Brazil hosted the 2014 World Cup. Everything went well for the five-time winner until the semi-finals. They received a serious blow when their star player Neymar was out with an injury. It was a very crucial game, not only because it was a semi-final but also because it was against Germany.

The Germans played well in the first ten minutes of the game, but from the 10th minute Brazil went downhill. Müller opened the gate in the 11th minute. Toni Kroos scored a brace against the hosts.
