The nerve-wracking psychological thriller You will return sooner than expected in a move So Jo Goldberg. Fans of the mega-hit Netflix series starring Penn Badgley and based on the books by Caroline Kepnes I have a lot to thank for this Thanksgiving as it was announced via the streaming platform that Season 4 will premiere a day earlier than expected. With anticipation building after some very twisted events in Season 3, You Season 4 will be another knockout when it premieres this February – just in time for Valentine’s Day!
In an update shared by TV Insider on Thursday, Netflix revealed that the upcoming season of You Part 1 of the series will premiere on Thursday 9th February 2023 and Part 2 will premiere exactly one month later on Thursday 9th March 2023. Both parts will be released on Netflix worldwide at 3 a.m. EST. Following on from the events of Season 3 – where Joe (Badgley) discusses his relationship with his wife Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) following his latest obsession with librarian Marienne Bellamy (Taty Gabrielle) – he goes overseas under a new pseudonym under the name of Professor Jonathan Moore. Joe moves to London for Marienne, his wandering voyeuristic gaze and sadistic romance lead him to fall in love with an art gallery director named Kate (Charlotte Richie). What about his relationship with Marienne now that Kate is in the picture?
While not much is known about what Season 4 will bring to the steamy series when it returns this winter, a teaser previously confirmed that a new side of Joe’s life would be explored, including his affiliation with a group of wealthy celebrities, many of whom nay, doubts will incur Joe’s sharp, often characteristic sarcastic criticism. However, when the Londoners suggest they be targeted by a hitman who will pick them off one by one, it seems Joe is back on his trail to find out who is behind the heinous crimes, in one move that feels a lot like another dark anti-hero Dexter Morgan.
During a chat on his podcast Podcrushed, Badgley revealed that if he ever theoretically met his on-screen counterpart, Joe Goldberg, he would have a very direct reaction to him. “Let’s say he was a person I was obsessed with and somehow I was able to meet him under controlled circumstances and he was interested in listening to me … I would actually try to love him. Because the truth is, he never understood that,” he said, adding that staring at the character for a long time also stimulated his more empathetic side. “Honestly, I feel like I’d look at him for a long time. he needs love It’s like hugging him. I would hold him.”
Badgley is joined this season by actress Ritchie – best known for her role on BBC One ghosts. In an interview with the Radio Times earlier this year, the 33-year-old star described the role as quite “challenging” and one that she loved. “I haven’t found anything this challenging in a long time,” she told the publication, adding that there’s an “icy” element to her character. “Actually, I always find it difficult… it’s a boring chorus that people close to me need to hear me say – I never feel like I can do that. But especially this one because the character and the show is very shiny and a lot of the time everyone looks really good and well dressed…all this emphasis on that stuff.”
