“Missing” is an upcoming American computer thriller film. It was written and directed by Nick Johnson and Will Merrick (in their directorial debuts) from a story by Sev Ohanian and Aneesh Chaganty. Apparently, the film also serves as a standalone sequel to the 2018 film Searching. It also stars Storm Reid, Joaquim de Almeida, Ken Leung, Amy Landecker, Daniel Henney, and Nia Long. Additionally, the film is slated to hit theaters on January 20, 2023 by Sony Pictures Releasing under their Screen Gems banner.

In addition, the film’s plot follows June, a girl whose mother Grace recently started dating a new man, Kevin. The new couple decides to go on vacation to Colombia, leaving June at home alone. When her mother goes missing, June tries to contact the FBI and local authorities but to no avail, forcing them to stream online asking people to find her missing mother.
