Blizzard could announce Diablo 4 release date ahead of The Game Awards

Diablo 4 has been one of the most anticipated games in recent years. The release of the microtransaction-packed Diablo Immortal earlier this year only heightened the hunger for the latest installment of what many believe to be the OG dungeon crawler. Thankfully, it seems fans won’t have to wait too long to find out when Diablo 4 will hit store shelves next year.

Diablo 4 will reportedly have optional paid cosmetics, but everything else in the game can only be earned through grinding.

Blizzard could announce Diablo 4 release date ahead of The Game Awards

According to Insider Gaming, a handful of members of the media will soon be given early access to play Diablo 4 and have a chance to interview the developers. More importantly, details of this coverage are on hold until just before The Game Awards 2022 ceremony begins on December 8th. Until then, Blizzard Entertainment will be ready to announce the release date of Diablo 4 ahead of the supposed beta access a few weeks before.

A previous report confirms this information, going so far as to claim that Diablo 4 will be out by April and will have an Early Access beta run at least a month before that.

A lot depends on Diablo 4 to be successful and better than its predecessors.

Although the rumored launch date is relatively close, much about Diablo 4 remains uncertain. It’s still unclear if Diablo 4 will also come to PS4 and Xbox One, or if it will be exclusive to current-gen consoles. Conflicting reports from various sources claim that Diablo 4 will be a current-gen experience. But until we get official information straight out of the horse’s mouth, the safest platform Diablo 4 will run on is the PC.

Both Blizzard and third-party sources have been hyping Diablo 4 as the next big thing, and with good reason. After Blizzard dropped the ball in the early stages of Diablo 3, the series’ hardcore fanbase is looking to make it up to them. After Diablo 2: Resurrected and Diablo Immortal failed to satisfy the hunger for a modern day dungeon crawler, Diablo 4 will get a lot of scrutiny at launch.

For what it’s worth, the early glimpses that few have had of Diablo 4 suggest the game will deliver on Blizzard’s promises, if not exceed expectations.

Fingers crossed we’ll find out for ourselves once the Diablo 4 release date is announced.

According to Microsoft, it wants to add the Diablo games to Game Pass once the acquisition of Activision Blizzard goes through.

Speaking of The Game Awards, everyone will be tuning in to the upcoming presentation and awards ceremony to find out who will win this year’s GOTY. The race for this year’s most prestigious gaming award is a tie between God of War: Ragnarok and Elden Ring.
