A Brief Summary of Episode 2 “Foundation Stones”

The second episode of Bleach TYBW’s anime adaptation began with Yhwach scolding Luders for willing to report his findings while lying on the floor. After threatening to remove his legs, Luders is able to get to his knees while his arm injury continues to bleed.

Ichigo is returning to the Kurosaki Clinic when Yuki’s phone rings with an announcement; All 116 members of the First Division and Sasakibe were unfortunately killed by an unknown enemy. This deeply worries Ichigo, who is literally hit by Nel Tu and Pesche falling from the sky; They tell him that Hueco Mundo was attacked.

The scene switches back to Silbern, where Yhwach gets impatient with Luders at his report, claiming he is a prophet… Whether the report was too far-fetched for Yhwach or he just wanted to demonstrate his power, he decides to both Luders and Ebern to brutally murder.

Ichigo and his friends travel to Hueco Mundo in hopes of rescuing those who are still alive after the invasion – minus Uryo, who he cannot take with him since he is a Quincy. As soon as they arrive, they see some soldiers leading a group of chained arrancar away from the battlefield. Their leader is an arrogant man named Quilge Opie, who begins killing each of the prisoners while spreading propaganda about his worthiness.

Two of the captives choose to fight back, Menoly Mallia and Loly Aivirne, but they are easily defeated and recaptured – fortunately, Quilge says, they’ve now proved themselves useful and are therefore spared.

The Tres Bestias, Emilou Apacci, Franceska Mila Rose, and Cyan Sung-Sun eventually arrive on the battlefield and begin cutting up Opie’s soldiers. However, when Ichigo arrives just seconds later, he sees Opie standing over the bodies of Tres Bestias…
