Andor season 2 release date: when is it coming out?

Although there is no exact release date for Andor Season 2, it is expected to be released on Disney+ in Fall 2024 So basically two years away.

Filming for the second season began this week ahead of the finale, and given the production’s previous schedule, it’s unlikely we’ll see it before the end of 2023.

Showrunner Tony Gilroy told The Wrap, “I’ve got two more years to go. We’ll start filming part 2 in November. And I don’t know if… our previous pattern was two years, but I mean… we’ll shoot from November to August. And then our post last time was about a year.

“As suspicious as my involvement in the community is, when I’m done I’ll have 26 hours of Star Wars content on my hands. I’ll be a player when we’re done. That’s me just hanging around. I think that’s the headline.”

He also told Collider, “If past is predicate and we do the same thing as before, it will happen on the same schedule. It appears two years later.

“The only place you can speed things up is in the post office and the only way you can speed up the mail is with money and money is tight.

“Well, I don’t really know, there should be next May or June or something serious. Someone would have to say, “Wow, we really need this and we’re willing to pay X.” Rogue One proved that if you throw money at it, you can post very, very quickly. It’s just very, very, very expensive.”

After the heartbreaking events of Episode 10, when it was revealed he couldn’t swim, there’s still a question mark over Andy Serkis’ role as Kino Loy. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he was asked if his character had died, to which he said, “That’s an interesting question. Who knows?”

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Gilroy said: “I hope that what we’re going to do in the second half will make the food feel really satisfying. Because year one is really about how he becomes, and the final line of this 12-episode installment will sum up where we’ve been trying to get to. And we’ll be back a year later.

“It’s going to be very different. The next four years are not about becoming a revolutionary. They’re about learning to be a leader and how difficult it is to form an alliance and what happens to people who are the original anti-establishment thugs and a lot of other things.”

We also know that Andor’s ending “will take the audience straight into the opening scenes of Rogue One.”

Gilroy also teased “heavy” moments for Mon Mothma in season two, particularly after Genevieve O’Reilly’s performance became a highlight of the show.

Mon Mothma in Andor, who will return for Season 2Disney+

“We had some ambitions for what we wanted to do with Mon Mothma, turn her on her head and fill out her backstory in a way that might be obscure to canon and the history books, but I also didn’t realize how brilliant she’s actress Genevieve O’Reilly,” he told the Radio Times.

“I knew she was good but we came in and started playing around and saying oh my god she’s world class. Absolutely state of the art and she can do everything.”

“I would argue, especially since we’re doing stuff for Season 2 now… she’s got to do all the things everyone else is doing, but she’s got to do it under glass… there’s some really tough stuff coming our way.” I think her path is very, very hard.”
